Rawlings Strong

Thank you for helping our team, RAWLINGS STRONG reach our Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal! The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

Our mom, Joyce Rawlings, was diagnosed in October of 2022 with ALS - Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This disease has rocked our world and presented countless physical challenges in her every day life. Despite being a healthy and active woman, this disease has quickly stolen Joyce’s mobility and much of her energy.

We were blind-sided and devastated to learn what life looks like with ALS. With ALS, there is no cure. There is no recovery. There is no remission.  ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.

That’s why we are walking! To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease like Joyce. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You have ALS" again.

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families. We have seen this first hand, but we can’t stop now!

With your help, we WILL be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.. Please consider walking with our team, sponsoring a team member, or praying for this cause!

TEAM RAWLINGS STRONG....strong in the Lord!

ALS has taken so much, but it has not stolen Joyce’s spirit for the Lord. Despite this disease’s heartbreaking daily reminders, she remains STRONG in the Lord. This gives our family hope.

“Finally, be STRONG in the Lord and in the STRENGTH of His might” Ephesians 6:10

THANK YOU & MUCH LOVE,

The Rawlings and Barnes family
