Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for helping me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal! The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
In October 2005, my husband Jim Fickes was diagnosed with ALS. He was only 42 years old and our two children Jimmy age 17 and Paige age 12 lives would never be the same.
We relied on family and friends for support and help through the ALS journey which ended quickly in August 2007.
We also relied heavily on the ALS Hershey team for every one of our needs. They were always there and Never ever said no!
Our ALS walk teak The Grateful Dudes was created using the love of Jim's favorite band the Grateful Dead. We showed up at the ALS walk in our tie dyed shirts and we were an instant hit.
While the numbers of folks walking for out team has dwindled, the support from our family and friends had not ended.
This will be our 17th year!!
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
